Darwin & Einstein

The Christmas break has left me a little out of practice, so I was determined to use my pencils and brushes today resulting in these two portraits. I’ve been thinking about illustrating important historical figures for a while and I can’t think of two better people to start with.

These were both drawn in A3 size with brush, pen and black ink, with shade elements painted on a separate sheet of paper. Using what has now become my tried and tested technique, these elements are scanned in, converted to vector and then assembled in Adobe Illustrator. The slide show below shows it’s progression.

A nice bit of practice for one day.

Well done and interesting to see the progress in the slide show.

  2. really good. i like so much that the computer is only being used to underline the essential pen and ink skills, which is quite subject appropriate given the time frame of their lives. I hope you get around to expanding this series!
